No matter how much abuse you’ve suffered through, you must forgive those who hurt you. You are not releasing them from what they did but if you give it to God and let Him do as He pleases with those people, you can then be set free to focus on you and and the life you truly want for yourself. You will be able to live a life with joy and peace and love. Otherwise they will continue to keep you in prison and they continue to rule and dictate how your life will be.
Ask God to heal you and help you overcome the hurt. Overcome the victim mentality and let God search your heart. Then repent for your sins and you can know true victory. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life and He will give you life in abundance, more than you could ever imagine. I know this is easier said than done. It takes determination and a daily choice made by you.
Search your heart. Do you have a victim mentality? How do you forgive and let go of the destructive emotions that seem to control you? Read the Bible and find out what it says about how you are to be. Change your thinking, what you think about. Disagree with the thoughts the devil would have you believe. You can do this. Depending on how long you were in the abuse and how bad the abuse, it may take several months or even years to arrive at your destination, but don’t quit. Set goals for yourself. Ask God what His plans are for you.
Know that with Jesus all things are possible, but He isn’t going to do it all for you. When the walls of Jericho fell, the Israelites had to go in and take the city. God brought the walls down, but they had to go do their part. (See Joshua, chapter 6). It took me several years because of the abuse starting in childhood and the length of time I endured abuse. There were many things I had to learn, relearn and redo in my life. Even though it took me so long, I’ve never experienced such peace and joy in my life as I do now.
You can too. This website was started so I could share my story and give hope to others. I am not a professional counselor. I am only sharing what I’ve gone through and I pray the articles and things I share will help you. I pray something speaks to you so that maybe it won’t take you as long to learn what you need to do in order to overcome and that you can soon experience joy and peace in your life. Joy and peace that can only be found in a relationship with Jesus.
There is Joy in Victory
