Knowing Who God Says We Are

Do you struggle to believe God’s love for you? Whether you have gone through abuse or not, many suffer from low self-esteem. The devil doesn’t want us to know who we are. If you have a right relationship with Jesus, you should know who the Bible tells us we are.

Satan wants us to be ashamed, to feel guilty, to not feel as if we have any worth or value. He is called the accuser and the Bible says in Revelations 12:10 that he stands before God day and night bringing up our faults and sins in order to make God not want us. He will go to any length to keep us deceived and in darkness. He will try to make us believe we are right with God, yet if we are living like everybody else on the world, if we aren’t spending time daily with Jesus and building a relationship with Him, then we are deceived. We are guilty of all the devil accuses us of, but Jesus died on that Cross on Calvary to prove His love for us, and to give us hope and a way out of this pit.

So, what do you believe? Do you know who you are in Christ? If you have received Him as Lord and Savior, repented of your sins and been baptized, do you know who Jesus called you to be?

If you read Ephesians, chapters 1 and 2, it tells us who we are.
We are blessed with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ
We are chosen by Him
We are adopted by Him according to the good pleasure of his will
He has made us to be accepted in Him
We have been redeemed by His Blood
We are forgiven for our sins
He has given us all wisdom and prudence, making us to know the mystery of His will, according to his good pleasure which He purposed in Himself for us to know
We have an inheritance
We were given His truth and are sealed with the Holy Spirit
By His grace we are saved and no longer dead in our sins
We are raised up to sit with Him in heavenly places
We are his workmanship

The Scripture continues on and on, talking about our peace in Him and being brought near to Him.

In Ephesians 1:19-20 it talks about the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places.

Can you raise the dead? Have you thought about what kind of power that would take? It is of God. The right hand of God represents many things, one of which is His power. If He raised Jesus from the dead, He can deliver us from the power of the devil. It isn’t that Satan is powerless, but His power is no match for God’s.

Ephesians 1:21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:|

God’s power is far above that of Satan. God created Satan. The potter has dominion over the clay. But God also gives us the free will to choose what we want. He gave that same free will to Adam and Eve who chose to believe the lies of the devil. We can use that free will to believe God instead.

It is a wonderful blessing when you begin to walk with God and get to know Him. It is an awesome blessing when you get to the point in your relationship with Him that you have grown up enough to appreciate all that He has done for you. Just like when you have taken time to get to know someone, a friend that you really connect with and know their likes and dislikes. You really care about them. You want to be the best friend you can be. Jesus loves us. He gave everything to give us the chance to be with Him and live for Him. Imagine how He feels about us! He even wrote it in His Word.

The Scriptures in Ephesians, chapters 1 and 2 tell us what God thinks about us, but He gave us the whole Bible to teach us how to live for Him and how He feels about us. We don’t have to hang our heads in shame of our past. As we grow in our relationship with Jesus, let what He does in us, how He changes us from what we used to be like, to be a witness for Him. Let others see the change in You. And that includes not allowing the devil to lie to us, telling us we have no worth or value.

It isn’t about us anyway, but as we know our value in Jesus, we overcome the works of Satan in our lives. Revelation 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

Know who you are in Christ and watch your life be transformed by the power and love of what Jesus did for us on Calvary.
