Perverted Love

God put in each of us a desire to love and be loved. And most of us want that. Sometimes to the extreme that we have allowed the devil to pervert that desire. With me, it was when I was very young, long before I was even a teenager, because of being molested by my parents. You see, Satan had already perverted the love of my parents into lust. And they chose to continue that lifestyle, mainly because they had never allowed Jesus into their hearts.

They taught me that sex was love. That was the way they chose to “love” me and my siblings. Because they refused to listen to my cry for help, the devil made me believe there was no hope for things to change and that I had to accept what they did to me. So, at 7 or 8 years old, I allowed that concept to become a reality, having sex with just about anybody. At that age, no child should be subjected to that.

And it’s not just pedophiles and other sick, deluded individuals, and sex traffickers. Most people have allowed Satan to rule them without even thinking about it. The devil puts an ideal into our heads and we just go with it. We don’t realize where these ideas are coming from, and we follow our desires. God warned us in the Bible.

Romans 1:21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. 22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, 23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. 24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: 25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

2 Thessalonians 2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

Romans 1:28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

Because man has chosen to not believe God and worship Him as our Creator, God has given some over to a reprobate mind. Some have chosen not to believe God because they enjoyed the sin. Do you see the connection? God is our Creator and when we choose not to live for Him, we are unconsciously choosing the only other option, and that is Satan. This is what the devil wants. He will go to any lengths to destroy our destiny, which is supposed to be spending eternity with God. Some have chosen to have a surface relationship with God and are in for a huge shock when they stand before God on judgement day and hear the words “depart from me, I know You not”.

God has shown me many ways in which the devil has twisted and perverted God’s love which keeps us deceived and in bondage. God gave us this desire to love and be loved. Satan perverted that in my life by making me believe sex was love. It’s lust. Some women have allowed the desire to be loved to make them go from one bed to the next, throwing away any respect for themselves. Maybe you don’t believe that, but I fervently pray you would allow God to open your eyes and show you truth.

Some men have had a Romeo spirit or a carousing, womanizing spirit. Both spirits, while different in some ways also have some similarities. They both come from the devil, but the original desire comes from a desire to be loved. Both spirits make the man constantly on the prowl for the next woman. From experience of being around men with both these spirits, God has shown me the destruction caused by those spirits. Both cause the man to “collect” women as a hobby almost.

The Romeo spirit makes the man see this spirit as fun and playful, going from woman to woman making them desire him, making him feel like the man of the year. The problem is this spirit stops the man from committing to any one woman. Even when he would want to, he can’t. Even if he becomes engaged with a woman, truly desiring to settle down, that spirit keeps the man always on the prowl for more. He always has a collection of women surrounding him and he is unable to deliver what he is promising them. His heart is not right with God.

The carousing, womanizing spirit causes the man to also unwittingly attract women. This spirit isn’t quite the same as the Romeo spirit because this man can commit to a woman. He can still stay committed and faithful as far as not having affairs on the one he is with, if he so chooses. However, it doesn’t necessarily stop his eyes from roving and checking out other women. When he is not with a woman, he consciously or unconsciously is on the lookout, drawing any woman he can to him, and to be honest, sometimes just because he wants somebody.

The problem with that is he will sometimes settle for anyone that comes along. Sometimes anybody will do.  He is truly searching for companionship and a partner, even if that person is not who God has intended for him. That spirit latches onto the desire in some women who also just want to be loved. Again, it leads us into relationships that are not healthy and not what God intended.

Our hearts have to be strongly connected to God in order to not get into predicaments that lead us into sin. The devil is a liar, a thief and very sneaky. He will put thoughts into our minds that are not of God. Love is a very powerful emotion and one that gets many into relationships that are abusive or flat out lead us into situations that can be harmful to us.

It is hard to wait on God. He doesn’t always deliver when we want Him to. But it is worth waiting for. When we allow God to bring into our lives the right person that He has chosen for us it is well worth the wait. It makes all those nights of loneliness disappear and it makes us want to love that person even more. Especially when Jesus is in the center of that relationship.

God wants us to see how the devil takes something God gave us and sneakily twists and perverts it. Many times, we don’t see that unless God reveals it to us. I pray you will take the time to pray and ask God if what is in your heart is from Him, or if the devil has perverted it and you don’t even recognize it. It will change your life. It can keep you from being involved in a relationship that will take you down a path of destruction. And if you are already in that relationship, I know that if you will give it to God, He can fix it. If the other spouse is willing, you can end up with the love you’ve always wanted.

God gave us free will and He will allow you to settle for something He never intended for you. Waiting on God’s timing is not always convenient for us. I once heard the phrase that we want God to microwave our situations while He prefers marinating. Please seek Him. He has taken me from being what the devil intended; into the godly woman He has wanted me to be. It is exhilarating and I now have the life that He intended for me. It’s not over and there is much more to come. He has a plan for you too. Allow Him to bring it to pass in His time. Seek Him with everything in you.
