Not walking in reality can mean running from our hurts and trauma that we have gone through or running from our responsibilities in life. to not being real in our relationship with Jesus. When Jesus returns for His people, the only thing that will hinder us from spending eternity in Heaven, is not having a right relationship with Him. We can spend our life bent, broken and bruised but as long as we are right with Jesus, the rest won’t matter.
A relationship with Jesus is about us walking with Him. It's not about what everybody else has done to us or how they need to change. It is about each one of us taking a journey with Jesus to the Cross and letting Him change us into His image.
If our relationship with Jesus isn't based on a firm foundation, it is like trying to ride a horse, but we keep falling off and sliding from one side to another because we don't know how to ride. We have based our knowledge of Jesus on our wants and desires but not in knowing Him or the true meaning of the Cross. We don’t have the correct knowledge that teaches us how to hold on to Him so, it keeps us from fully trusting or knowing Him.
